Pavel Schmidt è nato nel 1956 a Presburgo (CSR). Vive a Bienna (CH) ed ha un atelier a Soletta (CH). Dal 1966 al 1968 ha vissuto in Messico e dal ‘68 in poi ha frequentato le scuole di Bienna e Soletta (CH). 1977-1978 studia chimica all’Università di Berna. Tra il 1978 ed il 1990 completa gli studi e diventa assistente. In seguito assume la cattedra all’Accademia delle Belle Arti, Monaco di Baviera (D). Nel 1994 in occasione della cinquantacinquesima ricorrenza dall’inizio della Seconda Guerra Mondiale fa la prima esplosione di nani da giardino, “Gartenzwergsprengung”, alla quale seguono oltre venti esplosioni nel corso degli anni successivi. Dal 1980 pubblica innumerevoli volumi ed espone in Europa e nel resto del mondo.

Pavel Schmidt was born in 1956 in Preschau (CSR). He is a citizen of Bienna (CH) and has an atelier in Solothurn (CH). He began his university studies in chemistry in Bern, but after a year, in 1978, he enrolled at the Munich academy where, after his diploma, he became first assistant of Rudolf Seitz and then of Daniel Spoerri. He then assumed the chair at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich Bavaria (D). In 1994 in occasion of the recurrence of the beginning of the Second World War he made the first explosion of garden dwarfs , “Gartenzwergsprengung”, to which more than twenty explosions followed on the course of the next years. Since 1980 he has published countless books and exhibited in Europe and the rest of the world.

Erste Gartenzwergsprengung 1994 zum 55. Jahrestag des Beginns des 2. Weltkrieges. Seitdem fanden über zwanzig Sprengungen statt. Seit 1980 veröffentlicht er zahlreiche Publikationen und bespielt weltweit Ausstellungen.
